Jessica layered liquid underglazes and underglaze pencil to bring out the detail in the realistic goldfinch. The flashing of the kiln directly on porcelaneous stoneware warmed up the whole image without obscuring any of the details of the finely detailed drawings. The wheel-thrown form was stretched from the inside at four corners of a rectangle to produce a more interesting profile and both large and small faces for the flames to impact.
