Woodfired Wild Roses Pinched Teacup 10oz

$85.00
sold out

Wild Roses, leaves with thorns and rosebuds bloom across the surface of this woodfired teacup. The piece was made entirely in the hand, without the wheel, as a means of physical therapy for Jessica as she was trying to regain her sense of touch and retrain her fingers. Each piece was made in intervals of 10 seconds, the maximum amount of time that she could work on pottery in the beginning. The wild roses symbolize beauty (the bloom) amdist trial (the thorns) and the balance of both in our lives. We can thrive even when thorns exist!

The interior is beautiful, crystally blue, reminding us of ice and snow.

This teacup shows a nice contrast between the translucent natural ash glaze deposits on one side of the pot and the toasty flashing on the handle side that accentuates the crisp underglaze decoration. The cool reduction blue and crystal growth in our dolomite glaze came out perfectly on this one.

All pieces are made by hand, and have the traces of being touched and formed on them - soft unevenness, gently waving rim, drawings made directly on the surface. We hope you’ll prize the “imperfections” that make them truly human like we do.
